A couple of weeks ago I posted the Rainy Day kit we took to Bluestone with us. We were fortunate enough enough not to need it while we were away, but it has come in useful a couple of times since we've been back. It's been so handy, I've decided to keep it handy so we can use it at home if it's raining but we needed a permanent home for it.
I got these bags from hobbycraft earlier in the year during one of their sales, I think they were about 50p each - bargain!
*NOTE: if you want to wash your bag make sure you use washable fabric paints.
Supplies
1 calico tote bag
Cardboard (for template) a cereal box is ideal
Double sided tape
Paint/permanent marker pen/fabric pens or paints
A sponge, we used a new kitchen scrubber sponge
A board, tray or more cardboard to put inside the bag before applying paint, I used a craft cutting mat
1. Draw your design on the cardboard and cut out your stencil.
2. Use the double sided tape to position in place on the bag.
3. Place the board in the bag.
4. Using the sponge apply the paint, peel off the stencil whilst the paint is still wet.
5. I added some rain drops using craft 'stickles'
6. Leave overnight to dry.
7. I finished up by adding some cute eyelashes to my cloud.
I really love this bag, it's now hung on the bag of T's bedroom door so it's available for him to choose an activity when we need to, although I must admit I am considering 'borrowing' it for a shopping bag instead ;)
I can't wait to make more now, it was so quick and easy and T loved sponging the paint on and revealing the design afterwards.
What a wonderful bag. Such a great idea :) x
