|CREATE|upcycle washi picture frame

When I saw these photo frames reduced in sainsbury's from £12.99 to £3.00 I knew I could do something with them (I bought 2).

There's no lime green in our house and so I needed to change the colour somehow, I wanted a frame for T's room to put pictures of him, K & H and had some lovely red spotty washi tape.  The only problem was that the 'white' dots on the washi tape were, in fact quite translucent and still showed the green through, which did not fit with the red, white & blue theme of T's room.  With the success of my button frame upcycle I decided to spray the frame cream before applying the washi tape.

I used Rust-Oleum spray paint in Ivory silk  I got mine from Homebase but it is in fact cheaper from Amazon.  I removed the glass and sprayed 2 coats in a cardboard box in the garden.  This paint covered really well, and in hind-sight I think 1 coat would have been fine considering I was also using the washi tape.  I'm afraid that I completely forgot to take a photo of the painted frame before I started to add the washi tape.

I used hobbycraft's red polka dot washi tape, unfortunately, it's no longer available, but there are lots of other brands available if you do a google search.

This was a really quick, easy and cheap project and I think it's turned out really well.

Here's the photo frame in-situ, you can see why the white spots on red were so important!

Have a great day, if you have any other photo-frame up-do's or upcycle's please let me know, I'd love to see other ideas.  Now what shall I do with the other frame...?
