If you do one thing this Mother’s Day...

Happy Mother’s Day!

And if you’re reading this and your not a mother or female. Happy 11th March, this post still applies to you! 💜

One thing I’ve realised over the past 6 months is just how important it is to take 30 minutes EACH DAY to yourself, this might be as simple as going to bed early to watch Netflix or listen to your favourite music with a glass of wine, curl up with a cup of tea and a book or do a yoga class, meditate or simply sit in the dark relaxing! Whatever it is that helps with your wellbeing do it and make sure you do something every day!

I’m sure your reading this thinking ‘I don’t have time to do nothing for 30 minutes!’ If you are, let me tell you this, I was that person, I practiced self care maybe once a week if I was lucky. It was only when I totally burnt out, hit actual exhaustion and was on the verge of a breakdown, I knew things had to change. I had to start taking care of myself so that I could take care of my family, we’ve all seen the meme, but how many of us actually take notice? So if you don’t ‘have time’ to spend on yourself, you need it the most.

If you are thinking you don’t have time, just give it a go and see how you get on, I have to say it’s made a huge difference to my life (along with re-assessing my priorities) it’s actually bought my husband and I closer together as we make time to spend quality time with each other now, I also spend quality time with T and we make sure that we do things as a family still. No-one is suffering because I’m in the bath for half an hour or because I’m sitting reading instead of watching  rubbish on TV I have no interest in, or because I meditate before bed every night.

All I ask you is to make a promise to yourself this Mother’s Day (or 11th March 😂) and prioritise time  to spend at least 30 minutes a day practising self care.

We all need it, don’t deny yourself and your family any longer, make this Mother’s Day the day you change and invest in yourself.

Much love L💕

  1. yep - this is so important. there's so much we all have to keep in our heads that making the time to do something just for us is really key to maintaining good mental health x
