|REVIEW|eisberg alcohol free wine

I was recently given the opportunity to review a bottle of alcohol free Cabernet Sauvignon wine from Eisberg, as The Hubs is cutting back on his alcohol I thought this would a great opportunity to try non-alcohol wine so I have an alternative when we don't feel like 'drinking'.

At 26 calories per glass, I was also very motivated to try and make the switch and save those empty calories I'm pouring down my neck each week.

I opened the bottle whilst cooking dinner on Saturday afternoon, just as I would have an ordinary bottle, it looked like red wine...and it smelt like red wine!  To be honest, I was a little confused after the first sip, pscychologically yes, I was drinking red wine, but the full bodied richness wasn't there, it took a few sips for me to really taste the flavour and appreciate the wine for what it was.  That said, I loved the taste, it just wasn't what I expected.  I think I have a slight intolerance to red wine as I always get a bit of a gippy tummy if I have more than a glass, sorry folks, too much info I know, but this is an honest review! I was hoping that I could drink this without the tummy ache the next day but that was still there so maybe it's the grape and not the alchohol that doesn't like me, still, good to know!

I didn't really have a problem not drinking when I was pregnant, but I can see how this would be great for someone who is finding keeping off the juice to be a little hard.

Whilst I don't think I'll be trading in every bottle of Merlot for this non-alchoholic variety I will certainly be buying a couple of bottles of this again and will also try the white, I think if I have some in the house it might just make me stop and think about whether I really want the alcohol or just the wineglass in hand!   All In all I'm very impressed and will certainly recommend to non-drinking friends and offer to the designated driver at our next dinner party.

I've found eisberg wine to be £2.49 a bottle at Asda.

Disclaimer: I was sent a bottle of alchohol free wine for the purpose of an honest review, all opinions and comments are my own.
