T is doing a great job with word recognition so I've been thinking about a little game that I could play with him to help him recognise new words.
This was really simple to set up, I found a pancake picture on Google and printed out 12 copies, I made them quite small. But they could have been larger. I cut them into circles and then wrote words on the back. The words I used were:-
Thomas
Mummy
Daddy
Run
Jump
Ball
We just played like any pairs matching game but T has to match the words, we were amazed how quickly he picked this up and he managed to successfully match all 6 pairs.
I gave him a fish slice to flip over the 'pancakes' you could of course use a toy one or none at all, it just gave him a little added fine motor practice, he seems to struggle a bit with a flipping action!
Love this idea. My 4yo can recognise individual letters and a couple of words so this would be ideal to help her with some basic words. #toddlerapprovedtuesday
ReplyDeleteLove this! I might try this with Lamb but with colours and shapes x #toddlerapprovedtuesday
ReplyDeleteCute, love this idea! Will have to try something similar with O. :)
ReplyDeleteThis is a lovely idea, not sure my terror is quite there with matching even with pictures! Flipping on the other hand....
