So I appreciate that reindeer food is not an original idea and if you search pinterest, there are hundreds of pins to 'recipes' and labels (like the one I used for this little package). I however, wanted to put my own spin on it and so came up with 'glow in the dark reindeer food'
First I took some glow in the dark paint, we use this one from ELC, I know you can also buy it in Hobbycraft in the childrens section.
I smeared the paint over a laminated sheet and left it to dry.
Once dry, I peeled it off and cut it using scissors into tiny pieces, I added some jumbo oats, some glitter stars and some glitter. I've put ours into 2 packages for T to mix together before throwing on the lawn. This does glow quite well, although I can never take photo's of anything glow in the dark.
Our reindeer food is going in our 'christmas box' - that's a Christmas Eve box to everyone else but we don't have ours Christmas Eve!
This is my contribution to #toddlerapprovedtuesday, Becky is hosting this week - do pop over and post your favourite links.
I live this idea, it's such a great way of adding excitement for kids and would also be visible in the dark mornings and evenings of Christmas. It sounds like a perfect addition to a Christmas (Eve) box. Thanks for linking up to #ChristmasCountdown :-)
ReplyDeleteLovely! I always go to buy some...but then forget! Maybe this year we will make some instead!

Even without the glow I the dark element it's still great and easy to make xxx

ReplyDeleteIt is lovely when it glows, I tried soaking my oats in a weak paint solution first but it didn't work, which is why I came up with this way. Hope your's works out xx
DeleteWhat a clever idea! I will need to make a Christmas Eve box too. I never made one before. I will need to pin this. Hope that is okay with you. x #ChristmasCraftsCollection
